BYOK Plan (Bring Your Own Key)
Use your own OpenRouter API key to run every feature against your own model spend. Your plan carries a daily allowance of a set number of credits, and token costs are billed by OpenRouter rather than by StealthWriter.
What is the BYOK Plan?
The BYOK plan is a flat-fee subscription that lets you connect your personal OpenRouter API key. Once connected, every article, image, optimization, and analysis call is routed through OpenRouter using your key — billed directly to your OpenRouter account at wholesale model prices.

How to Activate
- Subscribe to the BYOK plan on the Plans page.
- Create an account at openrouter.ai and add credits to your wallet.
- Generate an API key from your OpenRouter dashboard.
- In StealthWriter, go to Settings → OpenRouter Key (also available on My Account) and paste your key.
- Once saved and active, the sidebar credit indicator will show Daily Credits (BYOK) with your 0 credit allowance.
Until your key is added and active, the BYOK plan grants 0 daily credits — nothing can be generated. The sidebar shows Daily Credits (Add BYOK) as a reminder to connect your key.
Models Used per Operation
BYOK calls are routed through OpenRouter to the equivalent (or upgraded) model. Standard users are routed via the StealthWriter system to the providers shown below.

Note: Research Writer is excluded from BYOK routing because of its long-running, multi-stage synthesis workflow.
Managing Your Key
Toggle On / Off
Temporarily disable BYOK without deleting your key. While off, the plan grants 0 daily credits until you switch it back on.
Update Key
Paste a new key any time. The sidebar updates instantly — no refresh needed.
Delete Key
Removes the key from our system. Your subscription remains, but generations grant 0 daily credits until a new key is added.
Common Errors
401 / Invalid key: Update your key in Settings → OpenRouter Key.
402 / Out of credits: Add funds to your OpenRouter wallet.
429 / Rate limited: Wait a moment and retry — OpenRouter applies per-key throughput limits.
